Abstract

This academic study, the first of its kind in Diyala Governorate, funded by the Al-Nahrain Network, presented a field study of archaeological and heritage sites that suffered direct and indirect damage as a result of military and terrorist operations in Diyala Governorate during the historical period extending from the Iran-Iraq War and the American invasion of Iraq to the subsequent emergence of terrorist organizations such as Al-Qaeda and ISIS. The study examined the impact of these events on these historical sites and involved a range of disciplines in history, archaeology, and heritage.
