About the Journal
Isin Journal for Archaeology, History and Ancient Languages (IJAHAL) is a peer-reviewed, double-anonymized, open-access journal published by the College of Archaeology, University of Al-Qadisiyah, under the sponsorship of the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR). The journal publishes original research articles in English language and covers a wide range of topics related to Mesopotamian studies from the Palaeolithic to the Ottoman periods, including archaeology, cultural heritage, ancient history, arts, religions, languages, landscape archaeology, geoarchaeology, bioarchaeology, preservation studies, excavations, and surveys.
IJAHAL is published exclusively online and provides free access (Open Access) to all its contents. Authors are permitted to self-archive the final accepted versions of their articles in compliant institutional or subject-based repositories.
Publishing in the Isin Journal for Archaeology, History and Ancient Languages (IJAHAL) is governed by strict academic and ethical standards. The journal is committed to integrity, transparency, and originality in scholarly publishing and aligns its editorial practices with the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). By submitting a manuscript to IJAHAL, the authors confirm that the work is original, has not been published elsewhere, all contributors have approved its content, and the manuscript complies with the journal’s editorial scope, policies, and ethical guidelines.
The journal is named after the ancient city of Isin in Diwaniyah Province, Southern Iraq, a major Sumerian center that flourished between the fourth and first millennia BC.
